How do I activate/use Two-factor authentication (2FA)?

As a hybrid crypto exchange, X4T takes the security of our users' accounts and funds very seriously. One of the measures we recommend to further enhance the security of your X4T Account is to enable Two-factor authentication (2FA).

Two-factor authentication is an important security measure that adds an extra layer of protection to your online accounts. It requires you to provide a second form of authentication, in addition to your password, to access your account.

Here are the updated steps to set up 2FA on your X4T Account:

Log in to your X4T Account:
- Once logged in, navigate to the account settings by clicking your profile icon located in the top-right corner of the dashboard.

Go to 'Settings' and click on 'Two-Step Verification':
- You will find the 2FA option in the settings menu on the left-hand side. Click on "Two-Step Verification" to initiate the setup.

Activate Two-Step Verification:
- Switch the toggle to the "On" position. A pop-up will appear with details explaining the benefits of 2FA. Click “Get Started” to begin the process.

Enter your current password:
- For security purposes, you will be prompted to enter your X4T account password to proceed with setting up 2FA. Type in your password and click "Next."

Download an Authenticator App:
We suggest downloading one of these authenticators:

- Authy (Google Play / App Store)
- Google Authenticator (Google Play / App Store)
- Auth0 Guardian (Google Play / App Store)
- Microsoft Authenticator (Google Play / App Store)

Install one of these apps on your smartphone before proceeding.

Scan the QR code:
- On the X4T platform, a QR code will be displayed. Open your authenticator app and use it to scan the QR code shown on your screen.

- If your app does not support scanning, or if you prefer, you can click "Can't scan the code?" to display a manual code which can be entered into your app.

Enter the 6-digit code:
- Once scanned, your authenticator app will generate a 6-digit code. Enter this code into the X4T platform in the field provided and click “Verify Code.”

2FA Setup Complete:
- After verification, your 2FA setup will be complete. A confirmation will appear on your screen confirming that 2FA has been successfully activated.

Generate and Secure your Recovery Key:
- After enabling 2FA, a recovery key will be shown. Copy this recovery key and store it in a safe location. This key is crucial in case you lose access to your 2FA device.
- You can also generate a new recovery key if needed by navigating to the "Two-Step Verification" settings page and clicking "Generate recovery code."

Testing 2FA:
- To confirm the setup is working, log out of your account and log back in. During the login process, you will be asked to enter the 6-digit code generated by your authenticator app. This ensures your 2FA is working properly.

Important Notice:

- Securely store your recovery key: It is essential to store your recovery key in a safe place as it can be used to regain access to your account if you lose your 2FA device.

- Do not share your key: X4T Support will never request your password, recovery key, or any personal information. Keep this information confidential at all times.

- Enable 2FA for enhanced security: We recommend enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your X4T Account to further secure your funds and personal information. If your account balance exceeds 300 USD, it is highly advisable to enable 2FA.
